Isabella County Republicans,
We are calling for a day of fasting and prayer Independence week July 1st through the 8th, 2023. Our nation needs to turn to the LORD. We cannot depend upon others to make this call: It is time to call all people to repentance, humility, confession, and to seek God’s face. This call is Biblical, part of America’s history, and needful at this present time. It is our only hope.
America once leaned on God, and we trusted in Him. Our nation was founded on: being truthful, hopeful, plentiful, and prosperous in her ways because of God’s blessing and guiding hand. No other nation in history has had the liberty that America has experienced. It has drawn people from all over the world. Civil Liberty is always co-joined with Religious Liberty; one cannot exist without the other. Through the Covenant made on the Mayflower we have made a promise to the Lord. We have turned away from that promise and from the Lord himself. Scripturally when a nation has a Covenant with him and they begin to turn away from him, God begins to send warnings to his people. These take many forms such as a weakening military, breakdown of the home, economic downturn, pestilence, division, invasion from foreign lands and many other signs from God that His blessings and His hand are being withdrawn.
In our nation’s past, God’s people have
turned back to Him, which has at times changed the course of America’s history. In fact, we would not be a nation if God Himself had not intervened and turned away the evil when we turned to him. We need that again. When we were in danger of not becoming a nation at all because there was such a division among the Colonists, Washington with the prompting of Benjamin Franklin called for prayer and fasting. Again during the Civil War when we had to “Save the Union,” Lincoln himself called for a day of prayer and fasting. In America’s past there have been many other times this Country has experienced this. At these times, political leaders have led us to these times of fasting and prayer.
At this time, God’s leaders need to do this, and if you lead a group of believers, we ask that you call for this fast. Here the Isabella County Republican Committee calls all willing to join in the fast to do so. It is time to take a break from the routine and call on our God and see-His hand again turn the tide from our wicked ways and again bless our country. If we sleep or fail in this matter, we can expect the deterioration of America to tyranny. It has already begun.
When her people were in peril and under the threat of extinction Esther called on Mordecai to urge the nation to fast and seek the Lord. Will we do the same? For such a time as this!
